Any reading from 40 to around 200 ohms is good and indicates you have a good ignitor. If you smell gas or believe there might be a gas leak, leave your house and call 911 ASAP. As the HSI start to turn off/dim, you can then hear the gas solenoid open and send gas, but by then the HSI is barely glowing. This tells you that the igniter is faulty and needs to be replaced.
